Intro - Cooper Neill

Hey Everyone -

I am a freelancer in Texas (living in Dallas) covering a lot of sports and entertainment events around the state for a few of the wires and some magazines but lately have been getting more daily news assignments which has been a welcomed change.

I earned a bachelors in history from Belmont University in Nashville, spent some time studying in St. Andrews, Scotland then moved to a small village in Germany to work as a PE teacher at an elementary school and travel around before deciding to head back to my home state of Texas to pick up a masters in Journalism from UT in Austin.

Below are two portraits I did while interning with the Dallas Morning News this past spring

Looking forward to finally meeting everyone next month!

Hey team

Hey Everyone,

What kind of sentences about us? Well, here goes.

1. I like sharks.
2. I lived in a town called "Horse Head" in Kyrgyzstan for two years.

Trying to get in a Fulbright proposal in by Friday, so I'm all over the place lately, but plan to get more involved once I get my feet on the ground. Interested to hear the answers to Amanda's questions also...

Photos posted are from work with the AP this summer in Rio that were hanging around on my desktop. Looking forward to sharing more work with everyone in Oct.

EAWXXVI-Lilac -- Preparation

Hello all!

A few quick questions in regards to prepping:

I personally will have only a couple days between landing in the US and the workshop, so for the sake of time, efficiency, and stress, I have a few questions for the team leaders:

Based on past workshops, do you preference in presentation method(iPad, print, laptop, etc)? I've juggled the laptop/book combo in the past, but feel like I have the opportunity to ask instead of guess for this specific situation.

Also, as I'm unsure of the exact schedule of the workshop, how much work do you think is reasonable to prepare for portfolios? I have two long-term personal projects and an edit of news work in mind. Not sure if this is too little or too much, considering the time that is available for showing work.

One other tiny thing - I read Melissa Lyttle's old blog post regarding EAW and equipment we may need specific to our individual assignments. Will the assignments be set early enough to be able to get what we might need(if they haven't been already)?

I think that's all for now...maybe.
